Women: Playing Doctor

By Hudson Morgan

Olivia Wilde lived her own fantasy by marrying a prince at age 18. Now, as TV's new resident on House, Fox's hit medical mystery, she's making male viewers' dreams come true.

You know Olivia Wilde. She's the one who impressed you as the naughty nympho in Alpha Dog, the old-souled lass in The Black Donnellys, the coed prey in Turistas. She's interesting, too: She eloped with Italian prince Tao Ruspoli when she was 18 years old; she has dual citizenship in the United States and Ireland; she went to Phillips Andover and renamed herself after Oscar Wilde. But if you ask any young American male, you'll hear about the time she French-kissed Mischa Barton on The O.C., and how, dude, it was way hot. ...continue reading

Turistas: An Interview with Beau Garrett and Olivia Wilde

By Wilson Morales

Every horror film lately seems to be a variation of something we have seen in the past. "Hostel" is a variation of "Friday the 13th", with the only difference being that there's no serial killer yet, just a killer taking care of his victims, who are mostly travelers of some sort. "Turistas" is somewhat similar but also different in that the location also serving as a secondary character, and wouldn't want to go to Brazil to film a movie. For Beau Garrett and Olivia Wilde, who star in "Turistas", going there was not only an adventure, but a chance to bond and get to the cast very well.

In the film, a diverse group of young travelers get marooned in a remote Brazilian beach town after a terrifying bus accident. It then becomes a game of survival as the unexpected occurs. Wilde was most recently seen in the FOX series, The O.C, and will be featured in "Alpha Dog" and "The Death and Life of Bobby Z". Garrett was seen in the first season of HBO's "Entourage" and will be playing the role of Frankie Raye in "The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer". In speaking with blackfilm.com, both Garrett and Wilde talked about filming in Brazil, swimming for the film, and their upcoming projects. ...continue reading

In the "House" with Olivia Wilde

By Troy Rogers

After breaking out with her role as Alex Kelly in The O.C., actress Olivia Wilde side-stepped the small-screen to play Jenny Reilly in the short-lived series The Black Donnellys before landing her current role of Thirteen in FOX's hit medical show House. With House serving up new episodes over the next three weeks, one of which includes a guest appearance by Mira Sorvino on February 3, we tracked down the aesthetically pleasing Olivia Wilde on a recent conference call to get the goods on what fans can expect.

Luckily, The Deadbolt received a diagnosis on Thirteen's past, her relationship with House, the Christmas episode on January 29, what it was like to work with Mira Sorvino, and the status of Wilde's big screen adventures. ...continue reading

Olivia Wilde on Turistas

By Fred Topel

After finding most of her success on television, with a six episode arc on Skin and a half season on The O.C., Olivia Wilde finally gets her first lead in a film. She plays Josh Duhamel's adventurous younger sister in Turistas, a nature which gets a whole bunch of her friends into trouble.

"All I know is that it was quite an audition process," Wilde said. "It's not like they just offered it to us and said, 'What do you think?' We worked really hard to get these roles, and I'm glad that we did because the casting was such an important part of the way this movie panned out because the dynamic between the characters ended up being just perfect. We had a mix and match, where all different actors try out being the team, and they see who does it. Beau [Garrett] and Josh and I were together for the first time and the scene we did just clicked and they said that it was that moment where they knew right away who it was going to be." ...continue reading

Interview: Olivia Wilde on Secrets, Romance, and Hugh Laurie

By n/a

When Olivia Wilde was cast on House, she had no idea how long she'd be around. Her character, nicknamed Thirteen, was competing for a spot on Dr. House's fellowship team — and Wilde herself was fighting for a job in the regular cast.

Thirteen was temporarily fired in the last House episode we saw, but that was all just part of negotiations between House and Cuddy; when the show returns tonight, Wilde will be there too. Wilde is currently in Louisiana shooting the Biblical comedy The Year One with Jack Black and Michael Cera, but before she left, she chatted with a group of reporters about Thirteen's secrets and Hugh Laurie's charm. ...continue reading

In the vacation-gone-wrong thriller 'Turistas,' Olivia Wilde and a sexy crew of hedonistic tourists get lost in the Brazilian jungle and find that there are (much) worse things to fear than a nasty hangover. But in real life, Wilde shrinks from very little, including performing her own stunts, grappling with spiders and locking lips with former 'O.C.' co-star Mischa Barton. ...continue reading

A Conference Call Interview with Olivia Wilde

By Lynn

Today, I had a thrill! (Just as excited as my friend Randi was when she got to interview Laura Silverman, the guest star of episode 4.12) I got to take part in a phone press conference with Olivia Wilde, aka Thirteen. She was delightful and you could just tell how upbeat and energetic she is, just from her voice.

I got to ask her several questions, but there were others there asking questions too, and they all revealed interesting things about Olivia and the show. Here’s what we all discussed: ...continue reading

Into the wild

By Bradley Tuck

Get a peek into the mind of a modern-day siren. Olivia Wilde opens up about her bustling career, secret marriage and the youth of America.

The first thing you notice about Olivia Wilde is her eyes. A deep sapphire blue, overhung with lashes so thick and dark they don't just frame, they loom, threatening to shut the eyes down at a moment's notice. The second thing you notice is the voice. The aural equivalent of barbecue sauce; smoky, rich, with a hint of sweet, it pours out and keeps coming in swirls that curl around the points she is making. And those points come thick and fast. ...continue reading
